Amanda Swift

I am an experienced teacher with over 15 years in primary and secondary schools and also adult education. I specialise in teaching English language (upto GCSE) and Dyslexia support. I qualified in 2020 as a dyslexia specialist and I am accredited by the British Dyslexia Association.

I like to work with students on a one to one basis as the benefit gained from individualised learning is enormous. Seeing progress in my learners, and even better when they see their own progess, is for me what teaching is all about.

I assess all learners before creating an individual learning plan which addresses their needs not only within English learning but also further study skills that can help in other subjects. This forms the basis of a programme of one-to-one sessions to enable learners to reach their full potential. I like to create a learning environment based on good humour and praise. This, I feel, is essential to create the right learning environment and builds a good rapport between teacher and learner.

I enjoy teaching onlne as there are so any online resources, games and quizzes etc. available to enhance and consolidate learning. I feel these methods can bring a more interactive and fun learning environment.
