I am a teacher with 28 years experience in the classroom and am currently a serving teacher in a leading independent school covering students in the age range 11 to 18 years old. I teach Mathematics which I love at all levels from Key stage 3, GCSE (both standard and international) and A level including Further Maths. In addition I have experience in delivering Mathematics in the International Baccalaureate at the Higher level.

I absolutely love seeing students enjoy learning the subject but also achieving the very best of their potential. I believe that Mathematics should be clearly explained because it can be a challenging subject at all levels dependent on the student. I also believe that students must have opportunities to apply their learning in unfamiliar situations. This is the most important use for Mathematics, it’s ability to help us solve complex problems. In my lessons students will have the chance to practise their learning as lessons must not be a lecture without any student involvement. Throughout my career I have always made good connections with students both in the classroom and has an experienced private tutor.

Outside of the classroom I love walking my dog, reading, movies and most of all I am a massive sports fan. I still play tennis to a very high level and follow all sports particularly football, tennis, cricket and golf. I am also a huge Manchester United fan!
I hope that this gives you an idea of the skills and interests that I can bring to the role of tutor.
